DONATE TO COW-OP

This spring, Cow-op is inviting our community to help grow more than food.

From May 22 to June 20, we’re running a month-long fundraising campaign to strengthen the Cowichan Valley’s local food system. We’re calling on customers, supporters, and local businesses to come together to raise $5,000 in support of our ongoing work—and we need your help!

Thanks to the success of our recent Plant Sale Fundraiser and the incredible support we’ve received from our community (including a generous anonymous donor in 2024!), we’ve made huge strides. But to keep up the momentum, we need sustained support.

Cow-Op is a non-profit co-operative dedicated to strengthening the local food system and supporting the Cowichan Region’s farming community. Through our online marketplace, we connect residents with a diverse selection of fresh, locally grown and harvested foods—directly from farmers, food producers, and processors in our region.

Our mission is to make local food more accessible while helping farmers and producers thrive. By offering a convenient, year-round platform for online shopping, Cow-Op saves time for producers and makes it easy for consumers to support sustainable, community-based agriculture. Every purchase, and every donation, contributes to a healthier local economy, stronger food security, and the preservation of family farms in the Cowichan Valley.

Read on to learn where Cow-op started, contributions to our local economy & how YOU can help Cow-op continue serving the community for another decade!

We started as a big idea, fueled by a small group of farmers, built off the corner of a desk at the Cowichan Green Community, & have since grown into to a full-service local food supply chain offering home delivery to the Cowichan Valley & Victoria!

Since 2014, Cow-op has been supporting Cowichan Valley farmers & food processors. With our online marketplace offering really local, high-quality foods, we connect producers directly with consumers.

Here is how Cow-op impacts our local economy:

  • Supporting 80+ cooperative members with sales, marketing & distribution services
  • Paying producers over $400, 000 each year, putting money back into our community
  • Directly employing up to 10 people each year
  • Supporting approx. 250 jobs throughout our network
  • Improving food security on Vancouver Island
  • Making farming & food production a viable livelihood choice for local people
  • Promoting regenerative, low-impact agriculture
  • Fostering community connections through local events & workshops
