Spring has officially sprung, and there’s no better way to celebrate the season than by getting your hands in the dirt and growing something delicious. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just planting your very first patio tomato, we’d love to see you at our Plant Sale Fundraiser happening Thursday, May 22nd from 3–6 PM at Providence Farm.
But this isn’t just any plant sale.
This fundraiser is hosted by Cow-op, your local farmer-run online marketplace, and all proceeds go directly toward supporting our infrastructure and growth — so we can continue to strengthen local food systems here in the Cowichan Valley.
What’s at the Sale?
Expect a bounty of organic and locally grown veggie starts, culinary herbs, and pollinator-friendly plants — perfect for building out your garden or giving as a thoughtful gift. Everything we’re offering has been grown with care by Cow-op member farms and producers.
You’ll find:
- Tomato and pepper starts
- Leafy greens like kale, lettuce, and chard
- Fresh herb starts like parsley, thyme & oregano
- Companion flowers and pollinator plants
- And more surprises from our local growers!
Whether you’re planning to fill your backyard beds or just want a few pots for your balcony, we’ve got something green and growing for everyone.
Why Are We Hosting This Fundraiser?
Cow-op is a farmer- and producer-owned cooperative that connects the community directly with local food. Every week, we pack and deliver orders filled with seasonal produce, sustainably raised meats, dairy, eggs, fresh baking, pantry staples, and more — all grown or made right here on Vancouver Island.
As we grow, we’re working hard to improve our infrastructure and capacity. Funds raised through this Plant Sale will help support:
- Upgrades to our packing facilities
- Better delivery logistics and route optimization
- More capacity to work with emerging and small-scale local producers
- Expanded educational programs and community outreach
In short, it helps us keep doing what we do — only better and bigger, so more people can access healthy, sustainable, local food.
