Cow-op is Hiring!

We are seeking to fill 2 part-time positions:

1. Marketing Ambassador
2. Packer & Deliverer

Cow-op.ca is an online farmers’ market that seeks to connect local farmers and food processors with their customers. Our operations are based out of Hope Farm in the Cowichan Valley.

1. Marketing Ambassador

Are you a marketing professional seeking a change from the corporate world?

Do you have a passion for local agriculture and sustainability on Vancouver Island and in the Cowichan Valley?

Do you want to be DEEPLY involved in your local community?

Cow-op Farmers Co-operative is seeking a Part Time Marketing Ambassador!  

  • This position will be approximately 15hrs per week
  • Starting wage: $17/hr

    Role will include the following tasks:
  • Brand management & oversight of consistent Cow-op image across multiple platforms
  • Creation & management of 3-5 original content social media posts each week
  • Establish a weekly newsletter that focuses on our co-op farmers and food producers, local agriculture news, local food news etc.
  • Assist in the creation of meaningful & measurable ads for local print publications, google, social media platforms etc.
  • Weekly team meetings
  • Overall engagement of the community in all things Cow-op!

Requirements:

  • Has education in marketing and/or social media
  • Has social media experience and an artistic and cohesive eye
  • Has a personal computer or laptop that they can work from
  • Is flexible to work remotely and on the ground when necessary
  • Must be willing to respect COVID protocols and to wear a mask

2. Packer & Deliverer:

We are seeking a motivated individual to help us pack, organize and deliver food orders!

  • This position is part-time, 24 hrs/week, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
  • Starting wage is $16/hr.

We are looking for self-starters to join our fabulous team – somebody who:

  • Can see what work needs to be done and jumps in
  • Must be a team player, has problem-solving skills and is efficient, punctual, methodical and organized
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Has a good attitude, excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • The ideal candidate will be keenly aware of, and passionate about community and food security

Requirements:

  • Driver’s license & ability to drive deliveries 1 day/wk
  • Must be in good health, has the physical ability to lift totes (up to 45 lbs) & the stamina to be on your feet for a majority of the day.
  • Must be willing to respect COVID protocols and to wear a mask

This position is subject to available wage subsidy funding, and qualified applicants must meet basic eligibility and experience requirements. To be eligible for the full-time wage subsidy positions, the candidate must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and
  • have a valid social insurance number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
